Visiting the website
You can read the public pages and use the public simulator without creating an account or joining the email list.
Vercel hosts the website. Delivering pages and protecting the service involves processing connection information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time and browser information. Hosting and error logs may contain this information. The site does not currently include advertising trackers or a separate visitor analytics service.
Joining the email list
Signing up is optional. The form asks for your email address and a separate checkbox agreeing to occasional ECITON-R project updates. Reading the site or using the simulator does not sign you up.
The subscriber database stores your email address, the page you signed up from, the consent wording and date, the record creation date, subscription status, an unsubscribe token and, if applicable, the date you unsubscribed. These records are stored in Supabase and are accessible through the private owner workspace.
The list is for ECITON-R project updates. Subscriber addresses are not published or sold. The owner can export active subscribers to manage the list. At present, the website collects signups but has no connected service that sends newsletter emails.
You can withdraw your subscription by emailing Anish. If you have an unsubscribe link, use it to mark your subscription inactive. Unsubscribing keeps the record and its inactive status so the active mailing list excludes it; it does not delete the record. You can request deletion separately.
Swarm Lab and files on your device
The public Swarm Lab runs its simulation and Python policies in a worker in your browser. The website supplies the program and runtime files; the public lab does not automatically upload your scenes, policy code or simulation results to an online run library.
The full workspace uses browser storage to remember which panels you have open. You can clear that preference through your browser’s site-data settings. A running simulation lives in the current browser session and is cleared when you refresh or close it.
Saving a scene or exporting a run downloads a file to your device. Scene files can include Python policy code; run exports can include settings, edits, messages, metrics and a run manifest. You control those downloaded copies and any later sharing. Avoid entering personal information, passwords or confidential data into scenes, code or notes.
Private owner workspace
Owner sign-in is restricted to the project’s authorized owner. Supabase handles authentication and stores account and session information. Sign-in uses cookies to maintain and refresh the session. Google also processes sign-in information if the owner chooses the Google sign-in option.
The private research workspace stores saved runs, experiment settings, policy code, results and owner notes in Supabase when the owner saves them or runs an experiment that saves results. These records are separate from public browser sessions and are not published by saving them. The workspace is not a public account or file-sharing service.
Email, videos and other services
If you email Anish, your address, message and any attachments are processed through Gmail and used to respond to your request and keep the related correspondence.
Some updates contain YouTube videos. The embedded player connects to YouTube only after you select Load video. Loading it, or following a link to YouTube, lets Google process connection and viewing information under its own privacy practices. Other external links take you to services with their own policies.
Vercel, Supabase and Google provide the hosting, database, authentication, email or video services described here. They may process information in countries other than your own, including outside Canada. This site does not promise that information stays in one country.
Read the Vercel privacy notice, Supabase privacy policy and Google privacy policy for their practices.
Retention and your choices
Subscriber records and private saved research records do not currently have an automatic deletion schedule. They remain until manually removed. An unsubscribed record stays inactive; contact Anish if you want to rejoin. Email correspondence is retained in the project contact’s mailbox; provider logs and backup copies follow the providers’ settings and retention practices.
To ask what personal information is held about you, correct it, withdraw your subscription, request deletion or raise a concern, email jamianish@gmail.com. Describe the request and the email address involved. Anish handles these requests manually and may need to confirm that the information belongs to you before changing or disclosing it. Please do not send identity documents in your initial message.
This page will be updated when the site’s handling of information changes. The date above identifies the latest revision.
